Finally...an update!
I know, I know...I've been slacking big time on the blog updates. Let's see...Kayla's 4 and 1/2 months old, laughing, smiling and talking like crazy, and we just tried her on some solid food (we went with the carrots and will be doing cereal next week). She took the spoon like a pro...a championship eater, just like daddy. She just figured out how to make a zerbert. Did I mention that she's the cutest girl in the world? Here are some pics...

More Cute Pics!
Okay...I know I've been slacking on the updates. Kayla will be 10 weeks old this Sunday! She's smiling like crazy, discovered her hands, and has started cooing. She does this odd dance whenever certain songs play on her bouncer...it's not very coordinated (she must get that from Daddy) but very cute. She received her immunizations last week (Mommy hated it as much as Kayla) and weighed in at 12lbs. 11oz. (that's at the...ahem... 92nd percentile) and 24 inches. I know...you didn't come here to read my blabbering, so here are some pics:

I'm a Month Old!
Sunday (the last one, 4/13/08) was Kayla's 1-month birthday! She's at 10lbs. 6oz. now and keeps growing and developing a personality. She's had a few issues with constipation and spitting up, but is otherwise doing great. I started back to work this week, so Mommy's been on the majority of baby duty (or doodie) at night. Unfortunately, we'll be starting daycare next month, so we're preparing....emotionally and financially....for that and enjoying as much time as we can with Kayla. Here are some pictures of her at one month....

Getting Adjusted
Kayla is doing very well and has been eating like a horse! Our first night home was a little rough but it was better by day 3. I thought we were on easy street....she was sleeping through the night and only waking 2 or 3 times for food and diaper changes. Oh my, how wrong I was and how quickly that changed. I think she has her days and nights mixed up....it's like living in Alaska without a watch. Although Eileen and I are like zombies, things are absolutely wonderful and we're enjoying every minute we can until that dreadful day when we have to continue with the rat race. We've gotten a few smiles, but I've been told it's only gas (I'll believe what I want, thank you). She is very alert, looking around and fixating on things....like one of our plants, her activity mat toys, her mobile, and she just noticed that we have a dog. He doesn't seem to share her interest, though. I'm amazed at how often, and how well, she's already lifting and holding her head up. So she's either strong or a genius (or both....genetics are amazing, right?). Here's a cute video of her making some funny faces...........

Kayla's Here!
I finally got a chance to update our blog for everyone.....sorry it took so long. Kayla Nicole Knapp was born on Sunday, 3/16/08, at 12:50pm. She weighed 8lbs. 2oz. and was 20.5" long. Eileen started laboring sporadically the night before and was between 6 - 10 minutes at about 4am. Dr. Lee (who happens to be awesome) had us come in around 6:30am and Eileen was already 5cm dilated. She then went from 5 to 10cm and started pushing within 2 hours! Quite short for a first-timer....she brought the robe to walk the halls in, the iPod for music, etc., but Kayla wanted out! Eileen was a pro and pushed for about 2 hours before Dr. Lee had to let her labor down while he performed a quick C-section on another patient. After Eileen started to push again, Kayla was a little to big to make it comfortably past the pelvic bone (probably my fault....the Knapps have big heads). We had to have a vacuum extraction performed to get her out, so I couldn't record it (I had the tripod set up and ready too). After a gentle tug by Dr. Lee and one last push, Kayla was finally born! Okay....I know you're just here for the photos, not my ranting, so here you go. I'll post a video (and those nursery pics I never got to) later. Enjoy!

New Baby Pics! In 3D!
Week 37 and a half. Everything's looking good with Kayla....she should still come when expected and will probably be around 7.5 - 8.5 lbs or so based on the latest measurements. Apparently she's "long and lean", so we could have a basketball player on our hands (that won't hurt her golf game either). So we go in for our last sonogram this morning and the technician says "Let's have some fun!". I didn't quite know what to expect...you know, being there with Eileen and all :) ...but she offered to perform the 3D sonogram as a free test drive. Very, very cool. A little creepy, but very cool. So here we have pictures of Kayla's face, foot and hand! I still have to post pictures of her room, which I might do this weekend. Enjoy!

Crappy Weekend
Hi All,
Ei and I have been stuck in the house all weekend cause we're both sick...I don't think we've ever been this sick together...a true test of marriage. Doc says the baby's fine though....no worries. I'm not sure why I'm even sitting here now 'cause my head feels like it's going to pop. I'll be posting some pics of the nursery later this week. We're getting down to the wire....we just have to clean the cars (our foiled weekend plan) and install the car seat bases and then we're pretty much ready for baby. By the way, Eileen is 0.5cm dilated as of Friday and the baby is in position. That doesn't mean too much, though...she could stay that way for quite a while. Although, you never know. Much love.

The Baby Shower!
On February 10th, Mom Callahan threw Ei's shower at Dutch's Daughter in Frederick. It was so nice of everyone to come and the gifts were wonderful! Mom and the grilz got to stay with us, so Ei got to spend some quality time with them. The rest of the photos can be found here at Fro's album site:
